In order to facilitate removal of the slab, the front lounge window, (which is to become a french window) has been removed.

The 3m apertures for the panoramic windows at the rear extension are taking shape.

The first level of scaffolding has gone in

On short walls, they put the insulation wall in afterwards (once it is set) for fear (in the rain of it pushing the brick and block work apart.

Brickwork to DPC height for the new Lobby is in.

Blockwork around the Bike Room and Utility Room starts to take shape

Against the existing wall they bolt tracks into the brickwork, then they lay and mortar up to the tracks. I have read on Google that this actually stronger tan interleaved dovetail joins.

Another Rainy Day so suspect the brick laying day was shortened. Blocks are in for the garage extension but not yet started on the rear extension.

The south west corner of the bike room currently looks like this, but there is still to be another skin laid along the rear garage wall.

It seems that the base for blocks is a layer of brick (with three holes in) up to the Damp Proof Course, then the Blocks are laid on top.

I’d never really thought about what happens when two walls join. I must get a tutorial from Tom and Nick about this.

I suppose I expected that the walls would be interleaved like the old utility room was (above).

The seam between the garage extension and the previous wall has been implemented like this. Probably OK but just wasn’t expecting it.
