There’s 150mm of new slab in the lounge !! And also ver the ground floor.
It was delivered by two huge concrete mixer trucks and a separate wagon to pump it in. The put the pumping wagon into the drive first, then each of the giant wheelers reversed up to it, and unloaded into the pump truck – and then it went onwards into the floor void. There’s a black DPC in there underneath that.
It will be walk-on hard tomorrow and dried by Monday.

A Dribble of cement left over

The bricklayers have paused at the back (awaiting steelwork) and are now working on the front extension to form the new lobby. Inside, they are continuing to dig out the slab.
I think the plumbing engineer was there to inspect what has to be done. Nick’s foreman of the week, John, was also telling me that the wall between the dining room and the lounge is not necessarily well seated on the foundations. They will have to investigate further and it may have to come down and be replaced.

In order to facilitate removal of the slab, the front lounge window, (which is to become a french window) has been removed.

The 3m apertures for the panoramic windows at the rear extension are taking shape.

The first level of scaffolding has gone in

On short walls, they put the insulation wall in afterwards (once it is set) for fear (in the rain of it pushing the brick and block work apart.

Brickwork to DPC height for the new Lobby is in.

Blockwork around the Bike Room and Utility Room starts to take shape
