We elected to retain bedroom 5 (used to be my study) and not turn it into a dressing room off bedroom 1. You still get to it from the landing. It is impossibly small to photograph but the first of the dressing room wardrobes have arrived.

We had a torrential downpour of rain on June 17 2020 and very quickly about 5-8mm of water gathered on the concealed dining room roof.

The outlet drain was blocked with twigs and leaves.

I realised there was a problem because the drain over the family room had a huge plume of water coming from it, and this now did not.
I was about to strip off and climb out of the bathroom window, full of trepidation to try and clear it. Then we came up with this solution which just about managed to reach.

From the lawn you can now see daylight through the drain, which one could not before

Middle of the second row up is a mid-grey tile… which when it’s wet goes the same colour as the rest.
The new water softener will accept salt as granules, cubes (like at the rental) or blocks…. I think that’s it in increasing order of cost!! The user has simply to program in which type it is on the display, as off it goes.
I decided to go with blocks for ease of handling – at least to start with. I had wondered how they dissolve – the photos below make it clear. It converts the blocks into cubes !!

Forgive me for not washing the lid and polishing the front!!
